Almost on daily basis, many people purchase new phones and do not know that these mobile devices have their unique identification numbers just as they have their Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) or the National Identity Numbers (NIN) that can be use as tracker in critical moments.
Most often than not , many people do not know of the existence of the International Mobile Equipment Identity/ Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI/MEID) or how to locate it on their mobile phones, IPads and IWatch.
According to Wikipedia IMEI is a unique number to identify mobile phones, as well as some satellite phones.
IMEI /MEID is usually 15 digits and most androids IMEI numbers begin with 350000000000000 while others begin with 86 or 89 depending on the make and model of the phone. The beauty of IMEI is that lost or stolen phones can be blacklisted by the service providers once reported by the owner with proof of purchase and photo ID and can also be tracked by security agencies and most often retrieved with the help of a tracker.
There are two ways to get the 15 digits identifier, the best way to get out the digit is dialing *#06# on your phone and the IMEI number would be displayed on the screen.
It should be noted down on a paper and not a screenshot because it may be lost eventually through accidental deletion or factory setting.
The second option is going to settings on the phone, General and About phone to retrieve the IMEI .
