The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has announced a change to the fixed lines numbering format in Nigeria.
The new format adds a “02” prefix before the existing fixed number, making it a 10-digit format.
Existing numbers will continue to work until December 31, 2023. From January 1, 2024, the new numbering format will be in effect.
This change will only apply to fixed telephone numbers and does not affect mobile numbers. The announcement aligns with international practices.
