Inuwa Urges Youths To Embrace Technological Disruption

The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, has encouraged Nigerian tech innovators to harness technology for business disruption and emphasized that the necessary capabilities are now easily accessible.

He made this statement at the 19th edition of ICTEL Expo organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was themed “Tech Disruption: Transforming Industries with Innovation”.

“The combination of ubiquitous data, unlimited connectivity and the massive processing power could give tech innovators the leverage to disrupt anything they can think of”. The DG said.

Inuwa also emphasized the difference between innovation and invention, stating that innovation is the process of turning ideas into impactful solutions while invention focuses on research that may not be commercialized. He encouraged startups to focus on providing solutions rather than chasing money, citing the success of Flutterwave as an example.

The Federal Government, in collaboration with NITDA, is taking proactive steps to address the skill gap in the country. They have conducted a thorough skill gap analysis to identify the specific competencies needed for national development.
