“TikTok is a major security risk to the United States, and until it is forced to sever ties with China completely, it has no place on government devices.” He said.

The move marks lawmakers latest step against the social media app that has become popular with over a billion users worldwide.

US officials fear that TikTok’s user data could end up in the hands of the Chinese government due to that country’s influence over TikTok’s parent, ByteDance.
