OLABISI OLALEYE

Globally, the rush to either the best deadline or get to their work stations on time by the working bracket has seen the forgetting personal stuff in Uber.

It’s recent Lost & Found Index for 2022 outlines exciting and sometimes bizarre items people tend to forget in countries including the United Kingdom, Nigeria, India and the United States of America.

The Index provides riders’ most commonly forgotten items and most unique lost items, which cities have been most forgetful, and of course, tips on how to get lost items back using the Uber app.

Phones, keys, wallets and purses made the usual list of items left by Uber riders. While the impressive list of things included documents, laptops and cash, phones, groceries, and luggage bags were among the most regularly forgotten things.

According to the Uber Lost & Found Index,  Mumbai, Austin, the capital of Texas, led, followed by Charlotte and Houston, and Lagos topped the list as the most forgetful cities in Nigeria.

While listing the ten most forgotten items in Nigeria as phone/camera, bags, wallet/purse, laptop, money and the most forgetful city as Lagos, Uber said riders are most forgetful on Mondays and Sundays.

The best way to retrieve a lost item is to call the driver – but if you leave your phone itself in an Uber, you can login to your account on a computer. Tap “Your Trips” and select the trip where you went something; tap “I lost. Log in,” Tap “Contact driver about a lost item,” Scroll down and enter the phone number you would like to be contacted at. Tap submit.

And in case of the loss of a personal phone, enter a friend’s phone number (you can do this by logging into your account on a computer or using a friend’s phone)., The phone will ring and connect you directly with your driver’s mobile number. If the driver picks up and confirms that the item has been found, coordinate a mutually convenient time and place to meet for its return to you. And if the driver doesn’t pick up, leave a detailed voicemail describing your item and the best way to contact you.
