NiMES: Journalists, Regulators, Zenith Bank, Service Providers, Others Receive Awards
…As Author Of Our Nigerian Story Emerges Best Female IT Reporter of The Year

At this year’s Nigeria Mobile Economy Summit and Expo(NiMES),journalists, industry leaders and telecoms service providers carted away laurel of awards in various categories.
The event tagged : ‘The Mobile Economy impact in Nigeria: Policy, innovation and investment’, is in conjunction with the Centre for Cyber Awareness And Development, CECAD and the Federal Ministry of Communication.
Speaking Earlier, president of Centre for Cyber Awareness and Development (CECAD),Dr Bayero Agabi disclosed that the event should be cherished as several think tanks met to come up with the final decision, “Because it was a tough decision during the final selection process”.
On the rationale for the 4th NiMES, Agabi said it was not about the technology of things but about what technology could do for people, saying, “NiMES programme is all about how technology could make lives better”.
Journalists who received awards are Mr Adeyemi Adepetun of the Guardian Newspaper received Best Male IT Reporter of the year(print), Mr Remmy Nweke, Best Online Media of the year, Mrs Chioma Ezike, Best Female IT Reporter of the Year (Broadcast) and author of Our Nigerian Story and The Sun staff, Erelu Olabisi Olaleye also clinched Best Female IT Reporter of the Year award (print).
Olaleye on her Facebook wall, while appreciating the organisers for the Award said, ” I thank you Lord Jesus! I also wish to appreciate the Management of The Sun Publishing Ltd led by the duo of Mr Eric Osagie , a kindhearted boss and Mr Steve Nwosu , a wonderful teacher for the opportunity given to me. Thank you all line Editors both past and present because without you all,there could never have been a me.
“I won’t forget to say thank you to my Supervisor, Pastor Ameachi Ogbonna for your impact”.
Meanwhile, Communications Minister, Barr Adebayo Shittu received the Champion of digital innovation award,Executive Vice Chairman’s Nigerian Communications Commission,Prof Umar Garba Dabantta carted away African information Society Merit Award, Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency(Nitda) Best regulator of the year,VDT received Broadband of the year, Yele Okeremi’s Precise Financial System, Best Innovation in financial software.
Excellence award for postal transformation went to NiRA, Telecoms Solution company of the year, Medallion, Best VAS Company of the year, Mtech Nigeria and the Best digital banking service was received by Zenith Bank.
