Ministry of Youth and Social Development  Takes Over Baba Ijesha’s Case
…Says He ‘ll be Prosecuted
Ministry of Youth and Social Development said the Nollywood actor Mr. Olanrewaju James Omiyinka (a.k.a), who sexually molested a minor would be prosecuted.
The Ministry that is  statutorily saddled with the responsibility of promoting and protecting the rights of all children in Lagos State had taken a keen interest in the matter.
In a signed statement  by Director, Public Affairs of the Ministry, Olabisi Adeola, the Ministry’s attention was drawn to a recent viral video on social Media showing James sexually molesting a minor who currently lives with Damilola Adekoya (a.k.a Princess).
“Apart from providing professional counseling and psychosocial support to the child to enable her fully recover from the trauma, the Commissioner, Mr. Olusegun Dawodu mandated the Child Protection  Unit to take every step within the law, and in consultation with the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team of Lagos State, to ensure that justice is served.
“It should be noted that the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN ) mentioned that the said Mr. James will be prosecuted for the alleged offence on different counts.

“We hereby appeal to members of the Public and the Press to please refrain from showing the faces of abused  children,  this is to protect them from stigmatisation and further trauma”.
While urging all parents and guardians to be fully committed to their duty of watching over their children or wards, the Ministry hereby assures all and sundry that no case of child abuse(no matter who the perpetrator may be) will be tolerated in the State.
