Ensure Professionalism Prevails, Ambode Tells Journalists

Journalists in the country have been charged to ensure professionalism prevails in the discharge of their duties.
This advise was given by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday during the commissioning of the newly upgraded Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre located within the Alausa Secretariat.
The Governor, charged all journalists to dedicate themselves to the tenets of their profession by being factual for the sustenance of the media credibility in Nigeria.
Though, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Rotimi Ogunleye, Governor Ambode disclosed that his administration remains committed in providing conducive environment for journalists in line with global standard.
“This administration has taken steps to ensure that the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre is upgraded, in terms of physical infrastructure and the facilities so that our media practitioners can work in an environment that is in tune with global standard”.
The Governor assured that his administration would continue to make the environment conducive for journalists to practice their profession.
He also disclosed that in the various information centres in the divisions in Epe, Ikorodu and Badagry, the government would start to upgrade those centres to align with the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre.
Said he: “These efforts are being taken by our administration to show that we believe in information management, we believe that as we work assiduously in this part of the divide, the public is adequately informed about goings on in government and about the plan it has to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy.
“I therefore urged media practitioner to confirm doubtful areas in their stories before going to press and making sure that they continue to put the profession of journalism to the highest pedestal so that we can all be proud of the profession,” the Governor said.
