Desist From Selling Your NIN, FG Warns Nigerians

…As Over 48M NINs Now Linked With SIMS


Federal Government of Nigeria has warned her citizens to stop selling their national identification number, NIN because there could be irreparable consequences doing that.


The Federal government speaking through the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami said any action committed with the SIM, good or bad would be officially traced and attached to the NIN owner, saying, “Kindly secure and protect your NINs. Desist from selling your NINs or allowing others to use your NINs for registration”.

He also urged stakeholders and citizens who are yet to submit their NINs to do so  before the February 9, 2021 deadline.

The Technical Implementation Committee under the Ministerial Task Force at a  recent review meeting held yesterday  (January 18, 2021), reported significant progress in the ongoing NIN-SIM linkage exercise.

Highly satisfied Pantami over this commendable achievement. He expressed the Federal Government’s appreciation for the commitment demonstrated by all stakeholders and citizens .

The Minister urged the technical team to fast-track the processes so that the project is delivered soonest.

The Technical Committee drew attention to the App developed by Federal Government which allows subscribers to link up to a maximum of seven (7) SIMs to their NIN.
