Subscribers’ Accuse MTN Of  Extreme Extortion

Dominant operator, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, has been accused of extreme extortion from individual bank accounts by its teeming subscribers  via tweets.
Prior to this, MTN users enjoyed free gigabytes of data bundle popularly called ‘cheat’, by dialing the data processing code *131#.
This was brought to MTN’s notice by a twitter user, @realfrancisanam via MTN’s official twitter handle, ‘MTN180 and MTNng’ on Saturday.
He stated that, he wasn’t opportuned to use the cheat because he does not have an MTN SIM, and also appealed that the telecommunications company block those using the cheat.
Subsequent to his announcement, some MTN users who made use of the cheat, and whose MTN SIM was used in registering their BVN bank account have been extorted of N50,000, N75,000 and N100,000 respectively.
In a statement by the telco to its customers via SMS that states :”The system glitch reported earlier has been resolved and reversed on all affected accounts. Thank you for your patience and support. We hope you continue enjoying MTN Services”.
Gtechnews gathered that the money deducted from customers bank accounts are yet to be refunded.
